Cesana, Italy

My return to Italy since the Olympics was definitely met with mixed emotions. My goal for the week was to try and overcome some of the negative feelings I associated with this place during the Games last year. Our team stayed in a hotel right across the street from the Olympic village condos so the memories flowed every day I looked out my window. The familiar bustle of Sestriere during the Olympics has been replaced with a slower, no-need-to-rush attitude again. Life is back to normal for this hill-top town and you would never know that a massive World sports event had even taken place there.

Park City World Cup

Calgary World Cup

The debut to the 2006/07 Skeleton tour took place on November 30th at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary. The first two days of training were cancelled due to extreme wind chill conditions ranging between -35C to -40C. Our face, hands, and feet were at risk of frostbite so it was a good decision by the jury. On Day 3 of training, the cold was more bearable but the ice was still extremely hard and the sled was prone to skidding.
